2010 Chevrolet Camaro

The Legend

New sheet metal gave the 1969 Camaro a longer, wider look than in previous years. Nicknamed "The Hugger" and offering a color by the same catchphrase, it made such a lasting impression that nearly 40 years later its essence would be revived in a Camaro Concept Car. In what would become valued collectibles, 69 Central Office Production Orders (COPO) Camaros were built with an aluminum block 427 cid, 425-hp engine.

The Concept

Design elements from the '69 Camaro and other Chevy performance cars are given a modern adaptation with the Concept Camaro Coupe. This concept car placed the powerful engine into a form-fitting angular package and gave it a forward-thrusting aspect. It made its debut at autoshows around the country in 2006.

The Reality

The 2010 Camaro is now a reality. On July 21st, 2008 the 2010 Camaro was revealed, and what a site it is. Production is set to begin in 2009. With the first units arriving in March of 2009. "The new Camaro delivers the best of both worlds - great heritage and a thoroughly modern, advanced package of performance, comfort and technology," said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. "It's a sports car for a new generation of enthusiasts that doesn't forget the heritage that helped make the original a cultural icon."
